What happens after you write
The five topics in the form are not decoration — each one goes down a different path. This is what each one commits you to, and what we need from you to finish it without a second email.
| If you pick | What happens | Include this |
|---|---|---|
| General question | A person reads it and answers. If it is a question about how the directory works, the answer usually already lives on the about page and we will point you at the exact section. | The question, and the page you were on when it came up. A pasted URL saves a round trip. |
| Add my business | We check the business exists in public records, then build the listing from what you send plus what those records show. Listing is free and there is no call-back, no sales pitch, and no fee at any stage. | Business name, city and state, service area, phone number, website, the appliance types and brands you service, and licence or insurance details if you carry them. |
| Correct a listing | We verify the correction against a public source or against you as the owner, then edit the record. Closed businesses are removed rather than left standing. | The business name and city exactly as they appear on the site, the field that is wrong, and what it should say instead. |
| Advertising | You get a straight answer about the labelled display units on the site and what they cost. Ad buys are handled separately from the directory and cannot change any listing or ranking. | Your company, what you are advertising, the geography you want, rough budget, and the dates you have in mind. |
| Remove a listing | Owners can ask for outright removal and we act on reasonable requests. We do not require a reason, but knowing whether the business has closed changes how the record is handled. | The business name and city, whether you are the owner, and whether the business has closed or you simply want it delisted. |
Every topic gets a reply within two business days, including the ones we have to decline.
What to include for a first-time fix
Most listing corrections are held up by one missing detail. There are 873 businesses on file across 50 states, so identifying the right record is the whole job. Five lines usually do it.
- The business name, exactly as shown
- Several companies in the directory share a trading name across different cities, and two share one within the same city. Copying the name off the page removes the guesswork.
- The city and state
- The single most useful line in any message about a listing. A business name alone can match several records; a name plus a city almost never does.
- The page URL
- If you were looking at a listing, a city page, or a guide when something looked wrong, paste the address. It resolves ambiguity instantly.
- What is wrong, and what is right
- “Wrong number” is enough to act on. “Wrong number — it now rings a dentist, the correct one is on their website” is same-day.
- Whether you own the business
- Owner corrections are taken at face value for contact details, hours, brands, and service area. Third-party corrections get checked against a public source first.
Claiming or correcting a listing
If you run a business that already appears here, you can take over what it says without paying anything. Write from an email address at the business’s own domain where you have one — it is the fastest proof of ownership and it saves us both a verification round. Where you do not, tell us something only the owner would know, such as the number that rings the workshop rather than the one published.
Owners can change the contact details, hours, service area, appliance types, brands serviced, licence and insurance status, and years in business. Those are all statements about your own company, and we take them at face value from you. Third-party corrections to the same fields get checked against a public source first.
Ratings and review counts shown here are carried in the listing record and are not verified against any review platform, so do not read them as a published score for your business. If the figure against your listing is wrong, tell us and we will correct or remove it. Position in a city list is calculated from that figure and the review count behind it — there is no editorial override and nothing to buy. The ranking rules are written out in full on the about page.
Adding a business that is not here yet works the same way and costs the same nothing. Send the name, city, service area, phone, website, and what you actually service. If a business has closed, tell us — leaving a dead listing up is worse for a homeowner than having no listing at all.
Advertising enquiries
The site carries labelled display advertising, and that is what pays for it. If you want to buy space, write with advertising in the subject line and include the company, what you are promoting, the geography you want to reach, a rough budget, and your dates. You will get a straight answer or a straight no.
What is for sale is display inventory: banner and in-feed units that carry an Advertisement or Sponsored label and sit outside the results. What is not for sale, at any price, is position in a city, state, brand, or appliance list, a badge on a listing, an editorial mention, or a link that is not marked as paid. Listings are ranked by customer rating and review volume, and money is not an input to that calculation.
Homeowners never pay for anything here, and no advertiser gets your contact details — we do not run lead generation, so there is nothing to hand over. How the ad networks themselves use cookies, and how to opt out of personalised advertising, is set out in the privacy policy; the commercial disclosure sits in the terms of service.
What we cannot help with
Worth saying plainly so nobody waits two days for a no. We are a directory, and the relationship is between you and the business you call.
- Book, schedule, or dispatch a repair visit
- Quote a price or negotiate one on your behalf
- Chase a technician who has not turned up
- Mediate a dispute over work already done
- Delete a low customer rating because a business asks
- Confirm that a licence is currently valid — that is your state board
For an actual repair, find the shop yourself and ring it — browse by state and city, or read the repair guides first if you would rather see whether it is a job you can do without anyone.
