Garbage Disposal parts
Be honest about what a disposal is: a sealed motor in a can. Jams, splash guards, mounting hardware and drain gaskets are all serviceable. The motor is not, and once it is dead the job is a replacement unit, which usually costs less than a technician's diagnostic plus a part.

Find your garbage disposal model number first
No supplier can sell you the right part without it, and the name printed on the front of the appliance is not it.
On the side of the motor housing
Under the sink, on the black or grey body of the unit. A torch and a phone camera held underneath beats trying to read it directly.
On the bottom of the unit
Some brands print it on the base plate next to the reset button and the hex socket.
What the tag looks like
Short — often a model plus a horsepower rating such as 3/4 HP. For a replacement, horsepower and mounting system matter more than the exact model: a three-bolt mount and a twist-lock mount are not interchangeable without changing the sink flange.
What fails on a garbage disposal
Ordered most-replaced first. Prices are typical retail ranges for the part alone — not quotes, and not including labour. Confirm the part against your model number before you order.

OEM or aftermarket for a garbage disposal
Paying OEM for everything is waste. Saving on the wrong part costs you the repair twice.
Splash guards, stopper plugs and discharge gaskets are generic and cheap; buy on fit, not brand. Mounting assemblies should match the original brand, because the sink flange, snap ring and mounting ring are a matched set and mixing them is how a slow leak under the sink starts.
